Camilla
Camilla Clarizio est une sculpteure-céramiste et une enseignante, née en Italie. Elle travaille et vit à Montréal où elle crée des pièces uniques et éclectiques en argile, y intégrant parfois du bois, du métal ou du verre.
Elle a obtenu un diplôme de l'Université de Montréal en 1977 et a été choisie à titre de céramiste participante par The Banff Centre for the Arts en 1987. Elle a enseigné la sculpture céramique dans plusieurs institutions, notamment au Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal et au Centre des arts Saidye Bronfman où elle a aussi occupé le poste de chef du Studio de céramique de 1992 jusqu'à sa fermeture en 2007. Camilla a reçu plusieurs prix et subventions, entre autres du ministère des Affaires culturelles du Québec et de la SODEC. Sa carrière de céramiste a débuté par une exposition solo au Musée d’art de Saint-Laurent en 1989 suivie, au fil des ans, de nombreuses expositions de groupe et solo au Canada, en France, en Italie, en République tchèque, en Nouvelle-Zélande, aux États-Unis et en Chine. Elle a mis sur pied, puis organisé conjointement avec le Conseil des métiers d'art du Québec, la première exposition de céramique du Québec au NCECA (National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts) au Texas (1998), en Ohio (1999), au Colorado (2000), et a exposé ses oeuvres dans le cadre de ces événements. Camilla a aussi siégé au conseil d'administration et au comité exécutif du Conseil des métiers d'art du Québec et a été membre du jury pour les arts de la rue de la ville de Montréal durant la saison estivale. |
Camilla Clarizio is a ceramic sculptor and educator, born in Italy. She works and lives in Montreal creating original and eclectic works in clay, sometimes integrating wood, metal, or glass.
She graduated from University of Montreal in 1977 and was selected as ceramic art participant at The Banff Centre for the Arts in 1987. Since then she taught ceramic sculpture in a number of places including the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts where she was also Ceramic Studio Head from 1992 until it closed in 2007. Camilla was honored with several awards and grants from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and SODEC, among others. Her ceramic career began with a solo exhibition at the Musée d’art de Saint-Laurent, Quebec in 1989. Group and solo exhibitions followed in Canada, France, Italy, Czech Republic, New Zealand, the United States and China. She instigated and co-organized, with the Quebec Craft Council, the first Quebec Ceramics exhibition at NCECA (National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts) in Texas (1998), in Ohio (1999), in Colorado (2000), and exhibited in these exhibitions. Camilla also sat on the board of directors and executive committee of the Quebec Craft Council and juried art works for the City of Montreal summer art in the street. |
